Long gone and nearly forgotten, it seems that the summer festival LOLLAPALOOZA is set to return! Members ofQUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, AUDIOSLAVE, INCUBUS and JURASSIC 5 joined JANE'S ADDICTION frontman PERRY FARRELL in LOS ANGELES on February 10 to officially announce the re-launch nation touring concert. "We had a five-year hiatus and what we did was take a rest," Farrell said of the event’s absence on the touring circuit. "It’s never a bad idea to take a rest, especially when you’re exhausted - think about things and re-strategise and wait for the perfect wave." Farrell started Lollapalooza in 1991. Over the festival’s eight year run, hundreds of influential acts graced its two stages including Jane's Addiction, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Verve, The Verve, Mercury Rev, Alice In Chains, Rage Against The Machine, Royal Trux, The Breeders, Beastie Boys, Smashing Pumpkins, Guided By Voices, Stereolab and Hole. While official dates had yet to be confirmed, New Music Express has noted on their website that the festival line up will stop in 28 stateside cities during July and August of this year. Look for more information including additions to the line up at on lollapolooza.com in the weeks to come. Former Clash leader JOE STRUMMER's last studio album is in the "final stages", and should be finished within the next few weeks. Strummer died of a heart attack in December of last year. Strummer’s website notes "We're at the finishing stages. Any overdubs that need doing, any backing vocals that need doing, any bits of anything in any of the tracks that need doing to kinda finish it off. That's the hardest bit, because up until now we were just putting stuff down to see what works. Now we've got to decide what works and what doesn't." The as yet un-named record should contain eleven songs, which, according to the statement, will be collected from other unheard sessions. According to her website, Icelandic songstress Björk will follow-up her 2001 album Vespertine with a potential new album this summer, tentatively called Lake Experience. Former Hole leader Courtney Love was arrested in early February at London's Heathrow Airport for being abusive, unruly and insubordinate during a Virgin Atlantic flight from Los Angeles, according to an airport police spokesperson. The singer/actress, 38, wouldn't take her seat and was being verbally abusive to the cabin crew, so the captain of flight VS08 notified airport police of a disorderly passenger. Officers were waiting at the gate when the jet landed at 11:05 a.m., and arrested Love for disruptive behavior and endangering an aircraft. Songs by Spoon, Lambchop, Superchunk, the Buzzcocks and others will be included on Merge Records' Survive and Advance (Vol. 2), due in stores February 18th. The series' third volume is scheduled for summer. Yo La Tengo will release their eleventh album, Summer Sun, on April 8th. The group hits the road on March 10th in Carrboro, North Carolina, for a fifteen-date tour. Music News as compiled by Eric the Red "Same As It Ever Was" host
