Star Ghost Dog is from Boston, and it carres with it a lot of that scene's characteristics, such as female vocals and undeniable hooks. The band even snagged the drummer from Boston's hard-core legends SSD. This should call to mind such bands as The Breeders, Fuzzy, etc. Now just add a pinch of The Cars, and you've got Star Ghost Dog.
The guitars are as distorted as the singer, Ginny Weaver's, voice is clean. This is all produced a little too slick for the group's first full-length release. The sparse use of keyboards might be enough to give the band a signature sound, but on tracks such as the new wave-ish "Erase Me," it calls to mind a Blondie cover band.
Yeah, it makes me smile, too. In fact, this whole album will make you smile if you're in the mood for it. If not, the cotton-candy pop might give you a stomach ache. The Great Indoors supplies the perfect soundtrack for skipping class just because the weather's nice.
